How is typing speed calculated?

Words per minute uses the standard five characters per word, measured from your first keystroke to your last. Accuracy is the share of your keystrokes that landed on the right character.

What is a good typing speed?

Around 40 words per minute is average. Sixty is comfortably quick, 80 is fast, and sustained speeds above 120 are rare. Accuracy matters more than raw speed, because fixing mistakes costs more time than typing carefully.

What does the consistency score mean?

Consistency compares your speed in each second of the run against your own average for that run. Holding one pace scores near 100, while sprinting and then stalling scores low even when the average comes out identical. It is usually the first thing that improves when someone stops typing faster than their accuracy allows.

What is racing a ghost?

When you open a challenge link, the site replays the challenger's exact keystrokes as a second caret moving across the same passage. You are racing a recording of how they actually typed it, so the link works whenever you open it.
